Hillview Cottages is a unique multi award winning Booie Range retreat and is the perfect place to stay while you discover the South Burnett and Bunya Mountains. There are three self contained and fully equipped air conditioned cottages (all with double spa baths and wood fires) overlooking this magnificent 160 acre property which has with views for miles.

Each cottage has its own historic charm - from a converted dairy and a workers cottage to a historic church (circa 1912) If you're looking for peace and quiet and star-filled nights, then this is the place. The area has everything you need for a great weekend away.

Only two and a half hours drive from Brisbane, Hillview is the perfect destination for that short break to recharge the batteries. The view is wonderful and the serenity and ambience of the property is good for the soul.

Do you like wine and are eager to learn more about Queensland wines? Only two and a half hours from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, the South Burnett has a beautiful wine trail to explore. Easy for day trippers or a full weekend getaway. Kingsley Grove Estate would love you to join them to celebrate Aussie Wine month in May, where they're offering a wine tasting Masterclass at their cellar door situated within their working winery. Their winemaker, Simon Berry, loves to share his passion and knowledge about wine with a focus on their own South Burnett region. Simon will provide a overview of Queensland’s wine regions and an in-depth look at the history and evolution of the industry in the South Burnett. He will then guide you through a selection of his wines while you enjoy a locally sourced cheese plate, before finishing with a lunch of their homemade wood-fired pizzas. You will make interesting discoveries and get insights, tasting notes as well as food pairing ideas and experience a most interesting and entertaining two hours with like-minded wine lovers. Join the thousands of people who come along to enjoy the entertainment, on the main-stage or roving in the streets. Win yourself great prizes by entering into the many pumpkin competitions on the day. Become a pumpkin roller and have a go at the Great Australian Pumpkin Roll™. Send your pumpkin hurtling down Policeman's Hill to see how far it can go. Wander the streets and look at the many street stalls at your leisure, sit down in the local cafes and hotel and enjoy a meal or relax in the park with your family and friends to enjoy a picnic style lunch. Burrandowan Picnic Races

You've heard about the great time to be had - so why not join them and treat yourself to a day of true bush racing and country hospitality. The first race begins at 1pm, you will have already made new friends and set up your position for the day with old ones. They have a full 5 race program with 2 state betting and a full bookies ring. There is no mobile phone reception available and no ATM. Like any great race day, they have plenty off the track entertainment as well - when you have tired of people watching (keep your eyes peeled for the sporting celebs who come every year), and take a stroll to watch "The Fashion of the Field" competition.

Heritage Nanango Country Muster

Nanango Show Society holds its Annual Country Muster featuring Traditional Australian Country Music on the second weekend in September. It's four days full of country music, poetry, gospel and all those things that make the Australian Bush Lifestyle great. The committee prides itself on the choice of artists as well as the variety from year to year. In the days leading up to the festival you are entertained by "Walk Up Artists" who are itching to showcase their talent. The festival was foundered in 2003 to provide an event that encourages tourists to stop and experience the warm country hospitality of Nanango and the South Burnett. So Bring your caravan, tent, ute, or whatever you have and settle in for the celebrations of this traditional style of music. Full camping facilities available from the Monday 1 September (bookings essential). Plenty of hot showers and toilets available. A real bush atmosphere.

Bunya Mountains Markets are open 9am to 2pm on the last Sunday of each month. At 1100 metres above sea level, enjoy the markets and the cool green of the mountains. Explore the 40 kilometres of spectacular rainforest National Park walking tracks. Meet the local inhabitants - peacefully grazing wallabies and spectacular array of birdlife including bower birds, crimson rosellas, king parrots just to name a few. And if you can't leave, Bunya Mountains Accommodation Centre offers cosy chalets. Refuel your spirit. Stay the night!

The Bunya Mountains Community Markets are held on the last Sunday of every month from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Enjoy 30+ market stalls with locally grown produce, homemade products, art and craft. Located within the iconic Bunya Mountains National Park the markets make for a fantastic day out for the entire family. Some of the ‘must-tries’ include a variety of food made with the local Bunya nuts, such as the Bunya burgers, beef and Bunya pies, scones, carrot cake and the famous Bunya nut icecream. There is plenty of space to sit, relax and enjoy a picnic lunch. There is something magical about the Bunya Mountains that forces its visitors to relax; a unique combination of crisp clean mountain air, soaring pines and majestic scenery. Spend days doing as much or as little as you desire. Enjoy a short or long bushwalk, horse cart ride, or immerse yourself in this a bird watcher’s paradise.
