Cooly Rocks On, Australia's coolest celebration of the 50s & 50s is now in its 5th year! The annual Sharp Motor Group Cooly Rocks On Street Parade is a spectacular and much-loved tradition of Australia's number one nostalgia festival! The Sharp Motor Group Street Parade will take place on Saturday 11 June, leaving Musgrave Street Kirra at 9.30am and continuing along Marine Parade Coolangatta. The two kilometre procession of colour and fun will also travel along Griffith Street allowing more vantage points in Coolangatta’s two main streets. During the Grand Finale weekend, 11 and 12 June, the two main streets in Coolangatta will close to traffic to make way for a giant street party. Five outdoor music stages, music and dancing will fill the streets and almost every pub and club in the Cooly Rocks On precinct will be venues for live music and dancing.

The Miss Cooly Rocks On Vintage Glamour pageant highlights the synergy between 50s and 60s vintage glamour fashion and the annual nostalgia festival. 12 finalists will be selected, and the bevy of beauties will be sashed at an event on Friday 10 June from 7pm at the Beach House Seaside Resort, Coolangatta. There will be live entertainment at the Beach House venue overlooking Coolangatta Beach. The 12 finalists will be stars of the street parade on Saturday 11 June when they dress to the nines and take their places in classic cars for the Sharp Motor Group Cooly Rocks On Street Parade, from 9.30am. On Saturday 11 June the Miss Cooly Rocks On finals take place at Komune Resort and Beach Club, Coolangatta. Tickets to the judging of Miss Cooly Rocks On include a glass of bubbly upon arrival. Garage Torque will unleash trade secrets and is another much loved event on the annual Cooly Rocks On festival calendar. Meet some icons of the motoring industry and learn some tricks of the trade at Cooly Rocks On’s Garage Torque with special guests Chad Adams, Dion Willcox and more. Chad Adams is a world famous hot rod builder from Georgia. He started painting cars at the age of 15 then built his own very first hot rod at the age of 17; a 1930 model 5 window coupe. Dion Willcox owns Queensland hot rod shop Kustom Shop and is a regular visitor to Chad’s shop in Calhoun. Together, they have produced some monumental machines. The two recently collaborated on a 1932 Ford Roadster which has been snatching up medals left, right and centre. This informal get-together is a ‘must’ for car enthusiasts of all ages.

Vintage cars have always been the stars at Cooly Rocks On Nostalgia Festival, and this year, some tiny starlets of the festival, the goggomobils, will take to the streets for a day aimed at putting smiles on the faces of sick kids. On Friday 10 June a fleet of 12 colourful goggomobils, driven by national car club ‘The Goggonutters’, will parade the Coolangatta Festival circuit, taking TLC for Kids children and children from Mudgeeraba Special School on a car cruise, which for many of them will be the experience of a lifetime. TLC for Kids Gold Coast Affiliate is a charity that helps put smiles on the faces of local children that may be suffering an illness, in local hospitals or undergoing treatment. Festival Manager Phil Villiers said he and his team were excited to welcome this new event which will see more than 200 children cruising the streets in some of the festival-goers best-loved cars.

Cooly Rocks On is Australia’s number one Nostalgia Festival, now in its sixth year is adding a new event to their action packed program. The hunt is on for Mr and Miss Rockabilly in 2016! Guys and Dolls who live and breathe the rockabilly lifestyle are invited to enter this years’ inaugural competition by visiting their website and submitting an entry. However, they had better shake a leg as entries close soon! Mr and Miss Rockabilly finals will take place at the Coolangatta Sands Hotel on Saturday 4 June. Finalists will be judged by a panel on categories including rockabilly fashion, rockabilly performance and rockabilly personality. The 2016 overall winners will each receive a return flight to Singapore courtesy of Scoot Airlines, a Sailor Jerry Rum prize pack, a Gold Coast Adventures Flights experience and more. The event is set to be a riot and all are welcome to attend.

The Tour de Valley is a cycling event that features an exciting team based cycling challenge, an individual time trial event and heads to the coast to feature a new criterium around the streets of Kirra. Following the course proposed for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, riders undertaking the Team Cycling Challenge and the Solo Time Trial event on Sunday October 9 will experience the beauty of the Currumbin Valley, following Currumbin Creek on a flat to undulating return journey through the lush, scenic countryside. The Kirra Criterium Classic on Saturday October 8 will see riders competing along the Kirra Foreshore. Riders and spectators can enjoy the short circuit, fast racing on a great 1.2 kilometre 'hot dog' technical course.

Cooly Rocks On is adding a new event to the action packed program in 2016 - The Nostalgia Garage Pedal Car Show’n’Shine. The Festival, already famous for its classic car and hot rod displays. Festival Manager Phil Villiers says this year’s Pedal Car Show’n’Shine is aimed at encouraging the next generation of car enthusiasts to be part of the family-friendly festival. “Long gone are the days of little red wagons! Modern Cooly Rocks On kids will be cruisin’ the streets in their customised Tot Rods, built from the ground up,” said Phil. Located in Burleigh, Nostalgia Garage, a custom car company, on a miniature scale, producing pedal cars and strollers, some complete with air bags, making the most seasoned hot rodder green with envy. Kristian of Nostalgia Garage is busy completing Tot Rods in time for this year’s festival and there is no shortage of takers for their miniature works of art. The Pedal Car Show’n’Shine takes place along the Marine Parade foreshore, Coolangatta, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June. Entrants are welcome and Pedal Cars will be judged on their style, connection with the 50s and 60s Cooly Rocks On theme. To enter, visit their website.

Cooly Rocks On 2016 takes place from June 3 to 13 June and is Australia’s number one Nostalgia Festival. For 11 action-packed days, the border towns of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads will be fuelled with party atmosphere. Pre-1970 cars, nightly cruises, music, dancing and family fun are all trademarks of this annual, much-loved festival Cooly Rocks On 2016 is revving up to host the biggest and best car show ever this year with over 1,300 custom and classic cars and hot rods registered for the Shannon’s Show’n’Shine car displays. Car enthusiasts can preview some of the cars at the ‘Sneak Peek’ Show’n’Shine in Marine Parade Coolangatta on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June.
