Heritage Nanango Country Muster

Nanango Show Society holds its annual Country Muster featuring traditional Australian Country Music on the second weekend in September. It's four days full of country music, poetry, gospel and all those things that make the Australian Bush lifestyle great. The committee prides itself on the choice of artists as well as the variety from year to year. In the days leading up to the festival you are entertained by "Walk Up Artists" who are itching to showcase their talent. The festival was foundered in 2003 to provide an event that encourages tourists to stop and experience the warm country hospitality of Nanango and the South Burnett. So bring your caravan, tent, ute, or whatever you have and settle in for the celebrations of this traditional style of music. Full camping facilities available from the Monday, 1 September (bookings essential). Plenty of hot showers and toilets available. A real bush atmosphere.

An annual festival of events held over the Queensland long weekend in October to showcase the South Burnett Region and Cherbourg Shire. It is a festival of events that embrace the region's indigenous culture, arts, music, heritage, foods, wines, sports, adventure, natural attractions and country living. Various events held across the region offering something for every taste and interest including attending a Wine Masterclass at Kingsley Grove Estate, getting hands on at a Heritage Day at the Queensland Dairy Museum, enjoying a Picnic in the Paddock at Bunya Red Farm, chilling out at the Maidenwell Folk Festival, appreciating some fine art at Wondai and Kingaroy Art Galleries, savouring a Big Burnett Brunch at Taste, appreciate indigenous culture and enjoy a cultural concert and relaxing with Music on the Mountains at the Bunyas. An extra special event for the 2016 South Burnett and Cherbourg on Show will be the grand opening of the Kingaroy to Murgon section of the Kingaroy to Kilkivan Rail Trail. Come for a weekend and fall in love with their beautiful region.

The Waterhole Rocks

The Nanango A. P. and M. Society Incorporated, (The Nanango Show Society) is presenting the 5th Annual Waterhole Rocks Rock n Roll Campout weekend. The program for this event is actually a combination of three events all combined into one. Rock 'n' Roll music and dancing, Custom Cars and Hot Rods, and competitions with a Car and Vintage Caravan Show Show Show N Shine with Grass Driving and Games. Along with the Rock 'n'Roll bands there will be entertainers performing all weekend with free dance lessions (rock 'n' roll) for the public. The show society will be running a canteen during the weekend and there will be plenty of camping available to patrons who wish to enjoy the event first hand.

Every fouth Saturday of the month, the Wondai Country Markets springs up like magic! Spend a morning bargain-hunting, finding the best local produce and enjoying the fresh country air. Run by the Wondai Regional Art Gallery, the markets operate in Coronation Park in the Wondai Central Business District. There is live entertainment with locals firing up the barbecue from 7am to dish out hearty breakfasts to the early bargain hunters. The Markets are a popular event in Wondai and are enthusiastically supported by locals and passing tourists. The Wondai Country Markets is an initiative of the Wondai Regional Art Gallery and aims to provide market-goers with a wide range of products at inexpensive prices. New stallholders are always very welcome and are invited to contact the Convenor. Stall fees range from AUD10, with power and water available if needed.

For the month of August the gallery will be hosting the South Burnett High School Art Competition. The whole gallery will be filled with a variety of art from our students from our local High Schools. There are sections for Juniors (Years 7, 8, & 9) and also for Seniors (Years 10, 11 & 12). They have a 2D division which covers all paintings, a 3D division which covers sculpture, pottery and paper mache etc. They also have a theme section which is titled “Burnett Places & Spaces” and is open to 2D or 3D pieces. Prizemoney for First, Second and Third will be awarded for all sections. A Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the winning school. Kidz Corner: Proston State School

The Bunya Mountains Community Markets are held on the last Sunday of every month from 9am to 2pm. Enjoy over 30 market stalls with locally grown produce, homemade products, art and craft. Located within the iconic Bunya Mountains National Park the markets make for a fantastic day out for the entire family. Some of the ‘must-tries’ include a variety of food made with the local Bunya nuts, such as the Bunya burgers, beef and Bunya pies, scones, carrot cake and the famous Bunya nut icecream. There is plenty of space to sit, relax and enjoy a picnic lunch. There is something magical about the Bunya Mountains that forces its visitors to relax; a unique combination of crisp clean mountain air, soaring pines and majestic scenery.
