Join their visiting experts for an insight into the complex world of the Rainforest. Learn about Lamington's part in the 'Gondwana Rainforests of Australia' World Heritage site and the fascinating features that warrant its inclusion. In the past Forest Weekend guests have joined the likes of Bill McDonald (Queensland Herbarium) to discover the different make-up of trees and leaves within the forest. This years guest speakers combined with legendary O'Reilly's such as Big Pete O'Reilly are sure to provide a insight into the unique flora of the Lamington National Park region. Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival -- Prizes, live music, weekend family fun, arts, crafts and more; the Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival is held the third week of October every year and celebrates the great lifestyle of the Mountain and is enjoyed by both residents and visitors alike. Everyone and anyone is encouraged to make a scarecrow and display it on the 'Spot the Scarecrow Discovery Trail' or in front of their homes or businesses. The Scarecrows on the Discovery Trail can compete in several categories, for great prize money and local fame. Young, old, clever and artistically-challenged all participate and the result is hundreds of scarecrows that have to be seen to be believed. There's colouring, poetry, entertainment and performance art, so there really is something for everyone. Exploring the Scarecrow Trail and spotting the scarecrows is best done at a leisurely pace!
