Wildlife of Australia's Rainforests

Redlynch, Cairns Area
17 – 31 May 2015
The wet tropics of northern Queensland are the last remaining part of the huge forest that once dominated half of Australia. This lush landscape is home to species like cassowaries, parrots, pythons, possums, tree kangaroos, and primitive-looking reptiles, many of which live nowhere else in the world. On this expedition you will work with ecologists to help shape our understanding of how changes in our climate are altering the landscape and what this means for species in the area. You'll explore lowland rainforests, spectacular mountains covered in cooler upland rainforests, beaches, and coral habitats just off the shore. You will try your hand at a variety of research techniques, including bird surveys, lizard surveys, frog surveys, and nocturnal wildlife spotting. You can join this expedition for one or two weeks, spent at different long-term locations.

In this delightful, heart breaking, funny one woman show written and performed by Susan Prince, you are taken on a very personal journey through life as a performer with epilepsy. Susan takes you through her life through the eyes of the characters she has played. Each character telling you about her life behind the scenes. What drives her to create, how love, motherhood and epilepsy have all shaped her performances and vice versa. Susan has created a delightfully theatrical telling of a life in the theatre. After both the Evening Performance on Wednesday 3 June, and the Matinee Performance on Thursday 4 June, JUTE invites you to a post show conversation with the creative team. It's a great opportunity to discuss your response to the show, for you to ask questions about the process of creating the work and allow you to delve into the creative process!
