Maleny Singers

Maleny, Sunshine Coast Area
20 June 2015
The Maleny Singers' latest musical production, "La Belle Hélène" is set in Ancient Greece and tells the story of Helen, Queen of Sparta, reputedly the most beautiful woman in the world. Her love affair with Paris, Prince of Troy, later leads to the Trojan War when supposedly a thousand Greek ships were launched to both rescue Helen and avenge her abduction. This operetta by French composer, Jacques Offenbach, is a funny, flirtatious version of 'what might have happened'. Jealous goddesses, a deceived husband and scheming prophets all feature in a tongue-in-cheek romp, set to plenty of lively music. Don't miss this saucy send-up, accompanied by the Maleny Performing Arts Orchestra at the Maleny Community Centre over the last two weekends in June.
