Mary Anns Cottage

Country Valleys, Brisbane Area

Indicative Rate * AU$132.50 to AU$145.00 Entire House Apartment

Mary Ann's Cottage is among the last of the early settler's cottages in the Moreton Bay Hinterland Region.

Built in the late 1870s, the cottage has been painstakingly restored to offer a glimpse of a by-gone era with modern amenities discreetly updated so as not to detract from the Victorian ambience.

Mary Ann's Cottage is set in 12 acres of riparian rainforest bordering the Burpengary Creek in an area that used to be known as Upper Caboolture and has direct links to the first free settlers in the Colony of Moreton Bay.

Mary Ann's Cottage ticks all the boxes for discerning guests wishing to reconnect with life at a slower pace. In winter the fireplace, with its original handmade bricks, casts a rosy glow; in summer, nothing beats relaxing on the verandah, glass in hand, whilst taking in the free floorshow put on by the visiting wildlife.

Staff encourage visitors to explore the historic character of the Pine Rivers district through their permanent and ever-changing special displays. The Museum is fully air-conditioned and there is always something new to see as they seek to build one of the best regional museums in Queensland. An animated theatrette provides an entertaining overview of the development of Pine Rivers. Other displays include the Old Schoolroom, Yebri House, and supplying the Building Trade, while the stories of our explorers and early settlers provide colour and fascinating detail to their tale. One of their most significant displays is the Skyring Clocks, a collection of unique handmade 'skeleton' clocks which show their inside workings. Several times a year the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum creates or hosts new temporary exhibitions on a variety of themes.
