Adventurethon is a multisport outdoor activity incorporating paddling, mountain biking and trail running. Each event offers five exciting off-road courses to suit all types of fitness levels including pain seekers, the casual trainers to parents, family members & even juniors! Routes can range from one to eight hours, depending on what the competitor believes they can achieve. Courses are off road, frequenting areas like national parklands, beaches and hiking trails to enjoy the spectacular sceneries and to experience the alfresco of Magnetic Island. Any Adventurethon challenge can be done as an individual, tag team or side by side team to gain a different experience for the day. They want you to step out of your comfort zone and try something new!

Groovin' the Moo - Townsville

2015 will mark the seventh anniversary for the dynamic youth festival held at Murray Sports Complex attracting thousand of locals and tourists to Townsville! GTM is Australia's only regional national touring music event and Townsville is one of six licensed all ages events on the tour and features a number of artists (including at least 10 international) who perform over 12 hours of music, across an outdoor double stage and the Moolin Rouge Big Top. GTM is about connecting with the local regional community through providing an annual, unique and enjoyable experience through live music, beautiful location, a relaxed atmosphere. Presented by triple j for the last nine years, the GTM program tours acts from all genres which in turn reflects the importance of diversity for the festival. GTM also has an abundance of food outlets along with licensed bars.

Strand Ephemera - The North's Sculpture Festival, proudly supported by Glencore. North Queensland's premier biennial outdoor art exhibition. XPD Expedition Race

Beneath the clear and sunny winter skies of Townsville, Townsville Cultural Fest celebrates the depth and diversity of Australian culture with ever increasing jubilation. With this year's festivities being the twenty-first anniversary, they are taking it to the next level. There will be 90 performing groups, 30 food stalls, nine days, four stages and 75 art/craft market stalls. Local and international acts will take to Jezzine Park, offering everything from folk, rock and pop, to Indigenous Australian music, African drum troupes, Pacific Islands, Middle Eastern and Latin dance groups. The event will start on August 15 with a massive parade of lanterns including exciting and decorated community and cultural entries, from Harmony Park (Corner Warbutton and McKinley Street) to the Jezzine. Festival activities will be from August 19 to 23. Registration of participants opens online from January and tickets will be available online from February 2015.

The program includes island-wide competitions, the Rotary Beer Can Regatta, Morleys Spring Equinox Fair, one-off cultural events, Talk Like A Pirate Day, Movies Under The Stars, Mega Markets, the very popular Sand Sculpture Competition and Oktoberfest which is set right on picturesque Horseshoe Bay beach. Each of the four main bays and beaches on the island has events over the month. There are also outdoor movies, live music, art exhibitions, gallery openings, environmental walks and talks, workshops, restaurant discounts, health and beauty discounts - you name it, the Festival has something for everyone!
